Sexual Risk Avoidance

Helping Young People Make Better Choices

Who are we?

We are educators who want to change the lives of our young people and enable them to be all they can be.

AFHF provides and promotes both virtual and classroom programs in Sexual Risk Avoidance for families and communities across Northeast Mississippi, including Alcorn, Benton, Lee, Prentiss, Tippah, and Tishomingo counties.

The purpose of the Sexual Risk Avoidance Education (SRAE) Program is to fund projects to implement sexual risk avoidance education that teaches participants how to voluntarily refrain from non-marital sexual activity. SRAE Programs also teach the benefits associated with:
  • self-regulation
  • success sequencing for poverty prevention
  • healthy relationships
  • goal setting
  • resisting sexual coercion
  • avoiding dating violence
  • resisting youth risk behaviors such as:
    • underage drinking
    • illicit drug use

The Administration for Children and Families (ACF) is launching a survey to hear directly from parents, caregivers, and young people ages 13-24.
